Angel Di Maria scores twice as PSG dominate Real Madrid

2019 Sep 19

Paris Saint-Germain began their Champions League Group A campaign with a comfortable home win over Real Madrid as Angel Di Maria scored twice against his former club.

The 31-year-old Argentine spent four years with Real Madrid and won the Champions League with them in 2014 before moving to Manchester United.

Without the services of the formidable attacking trio of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani, PSG managed to get off to the perfect start in the Champions League.

Ligue 1 giants stunned 13-time European champions Real Madrid with a 3-0 victory thanks to two first-half goals from Angel Di Maria and a rare late strike from right-back Thomas Meunier.

What’s next?

French champions are next in Ligue 1 action away to Lyon on Sunday, while Los Blancos will attempt to return to their winning ways when they face Sevilla in La Liga on the same night.

PSG will face Turkish side Galatasaray away from home and Real Madrid will host Club Brugge at the Santiago Bernabéu in the European competition on October 1st.
