Michy Batshuayi scores as Chelsea defeat Ajax

Chelsea recorded their sixth straight victory in all competitions on Wednesday as the Blues defeated last year's Champions League semi-finalists Ajax.

After a goalless first half, supersub Michy Batshuayi scored an 86th-minute winner to help Chelsea grab all three points and move at the top of Group H. The Belgian came off the bench to net after being set up by fellow substitute Christian Pulisic with just four minutes to play.

Manager Frank Lampard could barely contain his joy after seeing his team extend their winning streak to six games after an impressive performance at Amsterdam's Johan Cruyff Arena.

“I’m delighted with every element of the performance,”

“It feels huge – it’s just six points in the group and we play Burnley on Saturday. But I think we’re allowed to be excited tonight.”

Frank Lampard's side level on six points with the Amsterdammers, who conceded their first goal in the Champions League this season.

What’s next?

Chelsea make a trip to Burnley during Saturday's Premier League action before hosting Manchester United to Stamford Bridge for a Carabao Cup clash four days later, while next up for the Dutch giants Ajax is the Eredivisie clash against Feyenoord on Sunday.

These two sides face each other again in the next Champions League group game at Stamford Bridge in November.
