Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke to journalists after he starred in the LA Galaxy’s 3-3 draw at crosstown rivals Los Angeles FC on Sunday and has claimed, maybe as a joke, maybe seriously, that he would be open to a return to Old Trafford.
The former Sweden international - who once famously said “I’m a lion, not a human” - has suggested that he could still play in the Premier League and joked that the Red Devils know where to find him.
The Malmo-born striker spent two seasons at Old Trafford from 2016 to 2018, netting 29 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions before leaving for the United States.
The Swedish superstar enjoyed a sensational first season at Manchester United, scoring 28 goals in 46 games before he picked up a serious knee injury. His 28-goal haul helped the Red Devils win the Europa League and the EFL Cup.
Since moving to Major League Soccer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has continued his prolific career by scoring 46 goals in 49 appearances for the LA Galaxy. The 37-year-old scored twice during the 3-3 draw against Los Angeles FC in the derby game known as ‘El Tráfico’.
Speaking after LA Galaxy’s game on Sunday, Zlatan Ibrahimovic revealed:
“The lion still roars, yes. I could play easy in the Premier League, so if United needs me, I’m here, but Galaxy has me, so I’m sorry.”
“I did my job in Europe. I enjoyed it, I have 33 trophies that I brought with me here and hopefully I can get something here. And then we will see where that adventure finishes.”
