The seven-time Wimbledon champion was fined over an incident which took place on the weekend before the tournament started. During a pre-tournament practice session, the 23-time Grand Slam champion is claimed to have thrown her racket which inflicted damage to the court.
The 37-year-old American star is currently looking to win her 24th Grand Slam title to equal Australian Margaret Court’s record number of Grand Slam singles wins.
Former World No. 1, Serena Williams wasn't the only player to receive a penalty.
Nick Kyrgios was handed two fines for unsportsmanlike conduct, one for £2,397 ($3,000) from the first round and another for £3,996 ($5,000) from the second round. The fiery Australian lost to Rafael Nadal in four sets in the second round.
