Maurizio Sarri leaves Chelsea for Juventus
18 June 2019
Despite enjoying a reasonably successful season with Chelsea, Maurizio Sarri has returned to Italian football as he has officially been confirmed as the new Juventus manager.
Sarri left the Blues on Sunday after one season to join Serie A champions on a three-year contract. The Italian won the Europa League with Chelsea, defeating Arsenal in his final game in charge last month securing his first major trophy as a manager, and he also led the team to a third-place finish in the Premier League and qualified for next season's Champions League.
The 60-year-old Sarri will replace the departing Massimiliano Allegri at the Allianz Stadium who guided Juventus to five consecutive Serie A titles. His fellow Italian manager will now be taking a sabbatical from the beautiful game.
The former Napoli coach arrives in Turin with plenty of Serie A experience.
