Italian champions Juventus have beaten Europe’s biggest football clubs to sign Dutch defender Matthijs De Ligt in a deal worth £67.5m.

Despite being courted by Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, the highly-coveted 19-year-old has agreed to join Juventus this summer on a five-year deal worth £10.8million-a-year.

The Dutch international is set to arrive in Turin on Tuesday night and will undergo a medical on Wednesday.

Juventus ace Cristiano Ronaldo clearly had an impact on Matthijs De Ligt’s decision. After the UEFA Nations League final, Cristiano Ronaldo even told the teenager to join the Italian giants this summer.

The Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano reported the news:

"Matthijs de Ligt is a new Juventus player, done deal and contracts signed! Tomorrow night he’ll arrive in Torino and he’ll have medicals on Wednesday."
